New Quoybrae record as champion cross heifer sold for top price
Quoybrae - Aberdeen and Northern Marts on Monday sold 457 weaned calves and store cattle.
Champion in the WD Cormack and Sons sponsored show and sale, judged by Ian Wisely, South Law, New Pitsligo, was a 323kg Limousin cross heifer from WM & A Alexander, Quintfall, Lyth and sold for a new centre record of £4200 to Finn Christie Newton of Bulquhain, Pitcaple.
Reserve was a 321kg Limousin cross bullock from WM & A Alexander, Quintfall, Lyth, and realised £2600 for Balfour Ballie, Sebay Farm, Tankerness.
Weaned calf bullocks (244) averaged 347.8p (+22.8p on the year) sold to 435.3p for a 255kg Charolais Cross from Stitley, Claredon and £1490 gross for a 467kg Charolais Cross from Reisgill, Lybster.
Bullocks (11) averaged 283.7p and sold to 312.2p for a 490kg Limousin Cross from West Catchery and £1560 gross for a 516kg Limousin Cross from Bluewhin, Borrowston.
Weaned calf heifers (188) averaged 351p (+40.6p on the year) sold to £13.00 and £4200 gross for a 323kg Limousin Cross from Quintfall, Lyth.
Heifers (18) sold to 328p for a 372kg Charolais Cross from East Murkle, Murkle and £1490 gross for a 513kg Limousin Cross from Upper Northfield, Wick.
