Bad weather prevented Bower Primary School marking Burns Day on January 25 – but nothing was going to stop them celebrating completely.

Determined not to miss the opportunity to engage with the community the school proceeded with the festivities just a couple of weeks late, on February 16.

"Fortunately, our decision was met with a fantastic turnout, as usual," a spokesperson for the school said.

"The school provided tea, coffee, and various types of Scottish biscuits for people to enjoy.

"Children delighted the audience with a Scottish song and shared interesting Scottish facts, followed by a quiz for everyone to participate in.

"Then children and their families enthusiastically engaged in various craft activities together.

"The celebration concluded with lively Scottish dancing, with parents enthusiastically joining in.

Acting head teacher Mrs Sinclair added: "I am so proud of our children who relish the chance to showcase their talents.

"We are always eager to involve the community in these enriching experiences and the children never fail to put on great shows."
