Thurso Golf Club ladies ran their three-team open in June, with 13 teams playing in good conditions.

The away team consisting of Carol Paterson and Michelle Smith (both Reay) and Lynsey Macleod (Lybster) took the honours with an amazing 59. They started with a birdie four then a nice run of pars, then clinched another birdie at the 16th, the longest par five.

Runners-up were a Thurso team, Laura Durrand, Anne Simmonite and Isobel Mackay, with a 62. Their round had few birdies at one, four and nine, then consistent pars.

Third spot was taken by another Thurso team consisting of Fern Mackay, Jean Sutherland and Gemma Innes with a 64, beating the next Thurso trio of Karen Hanna, Eileen Manson and Morag Mackay by the better inward half.
