A field of more than 80 golfers had to contend with a tricky wind in the Reay Men’s Open, sponsored by M2 Procurement and Commercial Services.

Another busy week saw Reay hosting its annual Senior Open, sponsored by G G Mackay Ltd, with an entry of 72 golfers from the Highlands and beyond.

There was some excellent scoring in the women’s June Medal at Reay, with two relative newcomers and one club stalwart making up the top three.

Round one of the annual NC500 Caithness Links Open was played at Wick Golf Club on Saturday, with the second and final round at Reay on Sunday.

It was another week of excellent scoring at Reay Golf Club, with plenty of action in the men’s, women’s and senior sections.

A firm and fast-running course coupled with a week of sunshine provided the platform for some impressive scores to be recorded at Reay.

From a field of 16, Julie Mackay took the ladies’ April Medal at Thurso Golf Club with a score of 116 (43) 73, beating Laura Durrand on countback.

A spectacular performance by Eleanor Tunn in last week’s Quinlan Trophy at Reay Golf Club saw her beat her own women’s course record by a shot.

The ladies and gents were in monthly medal action at Reay Golf Club, and some fierce winds and squally showers meant good scores were at a premium.

A record 34 golfers took part in the annual Mackays’ Golf Challenge in Wick, with the annual gathering of family and friends now in its 21st year.

The summer season is now in full swing at Thurso Golf Club, with several experienced members tasting victory in the latest batch of competitions.

Saturday saw a fantastic entry of 74 golfers competing for glory in the Ronnie Wallace Open, which was once again sponsored by Norbloc Construction.

Reay hosted the ladies’ Navcommsta Open on Saturday, with Hannah McLean taking the overall handicap prize while Laura Durrand was the scratch winner.

A newcomer to the Reay golfing scene has said she would “absolutely recommend” the club’s “come and try” sessions, which are back for a sixth year.

It was another busy week on the fairways of Reay with some impressive scores posted across a number of competitions.

The summer season at Thurso Golf Club got off to a great start on Saturday with the Captain versus Vice-Captain match, with 60 golfers taking part.

Liam Mackay, Lewis Gow and Gavin Majilton fired birdies at the second, sixth, eighth, 13th and 16th on their way to a fantastic 68 for nett 58.

An excellent turnout at Reay Golf Club on Saturday saw 50 players competing on behalf of captain Carol Paterson and vice-captain Steve Efemey.

The men’s section at Reay competed for the McRobert Thistle Trophy, and a fantastic round of 72 for nett 64 saw Andy Bain take the honours.

Another busy week at Reay Golf Club saw action in the women’s, men’s and senior sections, including a Senior Stableford win for Graham Harness.
