Despite a couple of blank holes on the way out, Manson got to the turn in 18 points, then proceeded to add the day’s best back nine of 21 points for a total of 39 to beat Sandy Reid by a point.
Reid made a fine start to his round on the way to an outward haul of 21 points but faltered a little on the way in.
The same could be said of third placed Peter Knight who also had 21 points for the front nine but had to settle for a total of 37, one better than Jim Telfer.
Pat Valentine was next best on 35 points, one ahead of Alan Simmonite.
Valentine improved his best six-round total to 223 points to retain first place, three points clear of Jim Buchan. Having completed his sixth counting round, Simmonite claimed third place overall on 218 points. With four rounds remaining, those three are well clear but there is still time for a late challenge from a few others.
