Thurso Golf Club's annual junior open started out in lovely conditions on Sunday but these deteriorated as the day went on, with the last groups competing in heavy rain.

There was a great turnout of 45 with competitors from Thurso and Reay and even a couple of Spanish players in Ana and Diego Esquivel, from El Valles, who happened to be in the area on holiday.

Tyler Gordon was the boys' gross 18-hole champion with a superb 70, with Ben Durrand taking the nett trophy.

The girls' champion was Spain's Ana Esquivel with a gross 92, and gross winner was Isla Mackay of Thurso with a nett 63. There was also a boys' blue tee 18-hole competition which was won by Charles Fryett.

In the shorter competitions, Ethan Mackenzie took the boys' seven-hole trophy with a 35, and Lily Moodie won the girls' event with a 44.
