Thurso Surf Festival set to make waves





TOP surfers from across the UK are set to make waves at the Thurso Surf Festival which starts on Thursday.

Part of the UK Pro Surf Tour, around 100 athletes will take to their boards over four days of competition.

The Scottish Surfing Federation, sanctioning the event for the second year have many of their elite athletes competing with Mark Boyd and Chris Noble expected to be Caithness' best hope of success.

Conditions are predicted to be excellent during the first two days of competition with waves reaching six to 10 ft on Thursday and nine to 15 ft on Friday.

Dave Reed, CEO and organiser of UK Pro Surf, said: “Every surfer dreams of surfing perfect waves, we have seen that at this event.

"What a fantastic opportunity to have the chance to compete in these conditions.
