A99 Latheron collision sees air ambulance, fire service and police in attendance
The air ambulance is now on-scene at a two-vehicle collision on the A99 in Caithness, with other emergency services in attendance.
The collision, reported at 3.08pm on Tuesday by Traffic Scotland, is said to be “blocking the carriageway” north of Latheron.
It has caused the closure of the A99 in both directions.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed that two fire appliances, as well as the Scottish Ambulance Service and police are in attendance.
The Scottish Air Ambulance landed at the scene at 4.20pm.
The Highland Council have also reported disruption for school buses.
They posted on social media: “Service 918 and the Wick High School bus to Lybster bus will terminate at Lybster.
“Any pupils from Wick High School, who live between Lybster and Berriedale will wait at Wick High school until the accident clears.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We have been called to a road traffic collision on the A99 in Caithness and have dispatched a number of resources to the scene.”
Traffic Scotland said earlier: “Reports of a collision on the #A99 at Latheron that's currently blocking the carriageway. Police are now on scene... traffic still very slow in the area.
“Please take care.”
