Thurso ladies’ monthly medal goes to Mackay on countback
From a field of 16, Julie Mackay took the ladies’ April Medal at Thurso Golf Club with a score of 116 (43) 73.
She won on countback over Laura Durrand, who had to settle for second place on 77 (4) 73. Janice Campbell was third with 124 (48) 76, ahead of Fiona McLeod, also on countback.
One of the club’s newer ladies, Ashleigh Osborne, had a fabulous birdie on the par-three third, the only two in the competition.
The previous week, 19 ladies contested the 3 Club Goblet with a lot of close nett scores. Alison Campbell was the winner, with Amanda Snashall taking second place on countback.
Sixteen competed in the ladies’ Captain versus Vice Captain match. Trish Cowie led the way with a clear win of 35 points, 10 ahead of runner-up Fiona McLeod. Karen Hanna was a close third, two points farther back.
At the start of the month seven ladies had competed in the Gunnach Trophy competition. Trish Cowie was the overall winner with 39 points, ahead of second-placed Jean Sutherland on 30 points.
