A family double spanning a period of more than four decades proved to be the main talking point in round 19 of the A&A Mackay Builders Summer League at Thurso Golf Club.

Mark Foubister (handicap 27) was the winner with 39 points, one ahead of Steven Lowe (14). Jordan Youngson (6) had two birdies as he returned 37 points, alongside Steven MacDonald, but the story of the week went to Billy Noble.

The recently retired Noble has been putting in the hours on the golf course and he was rewarded with the ultimate shot at the fifth when he holed his 5-iron for a hole in one.

His father Bill had a hole in one at the same hole 44 years ago, and this notable double is believed to be a first for the club.

Noble went on to score 36 points.

The Stuart Campbell Open on Saturday was sponsored by Ortak Jewellery. Donald Bain (15) played the last six holes in two under par after birdies at the 13th, 14th and 17th to romp to the win with 41 points.

Innes Mitchell (6) continued his form and birdies at two and four helped him into second place with 37 points. In third was Allan Craigie (15) with 18 points.
