Thorburn and Paterson among season's winners in North Golf Winter Alliance

Wick's Dougie Thorburn emerged as scratch winner in the season-long North Golf Winter Alliance competition.
Second place went to Brora's Robert Macdonald, with Billy Ferries (Tain) third.
Handicap class one was won by Thurso's Bryan Suttar, ahead of Paul Mackay (Durness) and Hamish Skinner (Portmahomack) in second and third respectively.
Marc Keith (Durness) won the Mackintosh Salver. Runner-up was Steven Lowe and third place went to Allan Craigie (both Thurso).
Ladies' winner was Carol Paterson, ahead of her Reay club-mate Sarah Meiklejohn. Eileen Manson (Thurso) was third.
Thurso ended up as team winners.
Alliance fixtures are held throughout the winter season. Venues are Invergordon, Portmahomack, Tain, Royal Dornoch, Golspie, Brora, Wick, Thurso, Reay and Durness.
This year's competition attracted an average of 57 players per fixture.
The final fixture of the season was at Brora, where home player Robert Macdonald won the scratch section with a score of 71. His card included four birdies.
Reay's Brent Munro was second scratch on 75.
