Staxigoe United's dreams of winning the Highland Amateur Cup are over for another year as they conceded the lead before being knocked out on penalties by Stromness Athletic.

The Orcadians were in front at half time thanks to a strike from Owen Young.

But Staxigoe equalised in the second half with Bryan Reid finding the leveller before the visitors went in front.

Stromness found a late equaliser in the final moments of normal time with Ross Slater scoring to force the game into extra time.

The match was decided in a penalty shoot-out which Stromness Athletic won 5-4.

Wick Groats are the only Caithness club left in the competition after they defeated Fortrose and Rosemarkie 3-2.

But 2022 winners High Ormlie Hotspur are out of the competition after an injury-time penalty saw them go down 2-1 to Lerwick Spurs.
