Staxigoe United’s Graham MacNab is facing a 13-match suspension after a triple red card in a Caithness AFA Division One match.

The 33-year-old striker was involved in an incident with the opposition goalkeeper in the second half of Staxigoe’s 3-2 defeat to John O’Groats at Folke Park on Tuesday night.

MacNab was shown a red card for violent conduct and two subsequent reds for foul and abusive language towards the referee.

Each of the red cards incurs a three-game suspension. MacNab had been booked earlier, taking his total of yellow cards to five for the season – which brings a one-match ban. Any player amassing 10 games suspended in a single season automatically has three matches added.

Marc Macgregor got a double and Saleem Bremner was also on target for JOG. MacNab (penalty) and Sam Mackay scored for Staxigoe, who won the Stannergill Cup at the weekend.

The result meant John O’Groats moved up two places to sixth.
