A glorious weekend of autumnal weather saw players flocking to the Reay links vying for silverware in a couple of competitions.

On Saturday it was a fourball betterball and sisters Rebecca Munro and Sarah Meiklejohn combined expertly to top the standings.

An excellent score of nett 62 was too good for the rest of the field, with birdies at the fourth and fifth from Rebecca and one at the 15th from Sarah helping them to their victory.

Fresh from their victory in the Texas Pairs competition last weekend, Andy Bain and Cammie Ross maintained their fine form to take second on nett 63. Each managed a birdie, with Andy’s coming at the 16th and Cammie’s at the 13th.

Steve Efemey birdied the 14th and Andrew Taylor the 11th as they combined to take third place on countback after a fine round of nett 64.

Ian Ross and James Swan were edged into fourth after they also posted a nett 64, with a birdie from James at the 10th proving the highlight.

Kenny Farmer Snr took second place on countback after a birdie at the 12th helped him to a score of 36. John Brock, helped by seven pars, finished third on 36, with Bruce Mackay taking fourth after he also finished on 36.

The winter league Stableford competition is also up and running and David R Craig won round four after a solid round of 84 gave him a tally of 38. Simon Harper managed a hat-trick of birdies at the fifth, sixth and 14th to take second place on 37, with Kenny Farmer Snr recovering from a slow start to finish third on 31.

Kenny Farmer Snr went two places better by winning round five of the winter league Stableford, a birdie at the first hole setting him on the way to a winning tally of 35. Jack Johnstone and David R Craig were next best after both finished on 34 points.

This weekend will see the ladies and gents competing in their respective November Medal competitions.
