WINDY conditions made scoring difficult for the Thurso seniors in the penultimate round of the EGGS Winter Eclectic on Tuesday – although a number of players did defy the elements and improve their scores.

The best Stableford score on Tuesday was 33 points from four players. By virtue of the day’s best inward nine of 16 points, Sandy Reid claimed victory on countback from Donald Jack, Alan Simmonite and Donald Farquhar.

Jim Telfer (32), Bill Hossack (31) and Sandy Wright (31) also managed to beat the 30-point mark.

Ronnie Gray, on nett 57.5, and Peter Knight, on nett 59, retained the top two positions going into next Tuesday’s final round. Hossack improved by a shot to move into third place on nett 59.5 with Ian Manson and Jack half a shot behind in fourth place.
