There has been limited golf at Reay lately due to the wintry weather, but the senior section has managed to get some action in the North Point Distillery Stableford competition.

Round nine was played over a shortened 11-hole course due to areas of flooding on some holes, with holes 7-12, 15-18 and the first in play. Countback was required to determine the winner after Carol Paterson, David R Craig and Jack Johnstone all finished on 24 points.

In the final analysis it was Paterson who took the spoils following a very consistent round which included seven pars.

Craig took second place after another steady round, with a birdie at the ninth helping Johnstone to third. Pete McCartney birdied the 16th to finish on 23 points, a tally matched by Alistair Gunn.

The full course was open for round 10 and it was Colin Struthers who finished top of the leaderboard after a solid round of 86 gave him a winning score of 36 points. Alex Anderson birdied the sixth on his way to a round of 82 for 35 points and second place.

David Mackay also managed a birdie at the sixth to take third place on countback ahead of Malcolm Thomson after both finished on 34 points.

This Saturday will see the ladies and gents competing for their respective February medals.
