Players in the senior section at Reay Golf Club have been competing over the summer months every Thursday in the North Point Senior Stableford competition, with their scores counting towards the overall Stableford and eclectic trophies.

The Stableford trophy was won by John Brock with a fantastic eight-round aggregate score of 310, which was boosted by the highest score posted by anyone in a single round with a tremendous performance of 45 points.

Jack Johnstone took second place on 307, with Sandy Chisholm third on 306.

In the eclectic competition, where the players' lowest scores at each individual hole over the summer are used to come up with an eclectic score, three players finished tied at the top of the standings on 61.

Stuart Greig emerged triumphant by virtue of having a better eclectic score over the closing nine holes, ahead of Malcolm Thomson and Sandy Chisholm.

Laura Pearce of North Point Distillery presented the prizes to the winners.

October also sees the start of the Winter Stableford Competition which is also sponsored by North Point.

Meanwhile, entries are now open for the rescheduled North Golf Winter Alliance fixture to be played at Wick on Sunday, October 15. It had been due to be played at Thurso last weekend but was cancelled because of the weather.

Alliance fixtures are held throughout the winter season. Venues are Invergordon, Portmahomack, Tain, Royal Dornoch, Golspie, Brora, Wick, Thurso, Reay and Durness.

The 2022/23 competition attracted an average of 57 players per fixture.
