The arrival of May saw players at Reay beginning their campaign for victory in the Summer Cup, this year sponsored by Abbott Risk Consulting.

On a bright day the scoring was excellent, with Donald Mowat finishing on top of the standings. A fine round of 79, made up of halves of 39 and 40, gave him a winning score of 41 Stableford points.

Colin Paterson fired four birdies, at the fourth, 10th, 13th and 16th holes, on his way to 39 points and second place. David Mackay and Doug Mackenzie were next best after both posted fine tallies of 38, while Brent Munro managed a hat-trick of birdies at the first, seventh and 10th holes on his way to the best gross score of the day, a tremendous 69, to give him 37 points and fifth place.

Andy Bain matched Munro’s tally to also finish on 37 points, with a birdie at the 10th helping him to his score.

The latest round of the North Point Distillery Senior Stableford competition was played in cold and windy conditions with good scores at a premium. Murdo Macdonald mastered the conditions better than most to finish at the top of the standings after a steady round of 91 gave him 33 points.
