Pentland United still top of the fair play table in Caithness first division

Pentland United are continuing to set an example in the Caithness AFA Division One fair play league, topping the table with an average of 1.300 points against them going into the last two weeks of the season.

The scoring system is based on the number of yellow and red cards received – one point for a yellow card and either three points or five points for red cards, depending on the seriousness of the offence.

Wick Groats are still behind the Stabbies in second place on 1.435.

Castletown are propping up the fair play standings in the top flight, with an average of 2.944 points per game. They had three men sent off during a 2-1 league defeat to John O'Groats on July 24.

Thurso Swifts remain the best-behaved side in Division Two as things stand, on 0.529, with Watten (2.056) at the foot of the table.

Meanwhile, Wick Groats' Steven Anderson is still out in front in the scoring charts for Division One with 13 league goals. Lewis Mackillop of Lybster remains the top marksman in Division Two with 20.

Wick Thistle duo Colin Henstridge and Darren Macgregor were joint top scorers in the Colin Macleod Memorial Cup with four each – all scored in a 15-0 victory over Thurso Pentland – while James Mackintosh (High Ormlie) and Jonah Martens (Wick Groats) got four goals apiece in the Eain Mackintosh Cup.

Pentland United's Marc Macgregor is top scorer in the David Allan Shield, with five, while Alan Steven (Keiss) and Ross Steven (Lybster) have each netted three times in the appropriately named Steven Cup.

A change of venue has been announced for this season's David Allan Shield final. It will be played in Castletown, rather than at the Dammies in Thurso.

Wednesday, August 9 – Caithness AFA Division One: Castletown v Wick Thistle. Division Two: Keiss v Thurso Pentland; Lybster v Swifts (all 7pm).

Saturday, August 12 – David Allan Shield final – High Ormlie Hotspur v Wick Groats (Castletown, 3pm).
