The latest on-course action at Reay saw competitions for both the ladies' and seniors' sections.

The ladies' September Medal saw Jane Mackenzie blast the rest of the field away as she posted an excellent round of nett 66. A solid round, which included an excellent three at the fifth hole, was good enough to win by a margin of four shots, and her handicap will continue to tumble after some good late-summer form.

Carol Paterson birdied the long fourth hole on her way to a round of 80 for nett 70 and second place, while Jacqui Greig took third after a solid performance gave her a nett 72. Pam Bain birdied the second on her way to a round of 82 for nett 73, a tally matched by Tricia MacDonald who fired a fantastic eagle at the fourth during her round.

In the latest North Point Distillery Senior Stableford action, Alex Anderson bagged a bottle of spiced rum courtesy of the sponsors as he won the nearest-the-pin prize.

In the main event Mike Halliday continued his recent golden streak of form to win on the day with an excellent 37 Stableford points courtesy of a round of 81.

It was a day of two contrasting halves for runner-up Sandy Chisholm, who posted an outward 46 but came home in a blistering 39 to take second on 34 points.

Fraser Organ overcame a slow start to finish strongly and he took third place on 33.

Alex Anderson had a very up-and-down round on his way to 32 points and fourth place, but he did have the consolation of a birdie at the 16th for his efforts. A trio of players, Donald Mowat, Kenny Farmer Snr and Colin Struthers, were next best after they all finished on 31 points.

The action did little to change the overall standings, with Willie Steven still leading the Stableford on a six-round aggregate score of 235. Jack Johnstone remains the closest pursuer on 233, with Colin Struthers on 232 and Mike Halliday on 228 next best.

Meanwhile, in the eclectic competition, Stuart Greig remains the man to beat on 60.6, ahead of Willie Steven on 62, Jack Johnstone on 64.8 and Colin Struthers on 64.9.

This weekend sees the gents competing for the September Medal, while the ladies will play in the Ball Sweep/Medal winners' cup competition.
