The event was sponsored by Rock Rose gin and 18 ladies braved the windy conditions to take part.

Runner-up was Angela Williamson with a nett score of 78 and third place went to Morag Mackay, also with a nett score of 78. Anne Simmonite finished fourth.

Wick's Dee Macangus had the lowest gross score (92), while Pauline Craig of Reay had the best score for the par-three holes.

Ladies from the Caithness golf clubs compete each year for the Sandra Proudler Trophy which takes the best four nett scores for each club from the Reay, Thurso and Wick opens. The club with the lowest score at the end wins the silverware.

This year, Wick ladies didn't manage to have four scores at the Reay Open so that left Thurso and Reay to compete for the trophy. After a very close competition, Thurso retained the trophy by finishing seven points ahead of Reay with a total score of 272.

One of Thurso's new members, Hilary Geddes, was Sandra Proudler's neighbour so it was special for her to take part in the competition in Sandra's memory.
