WICK and District Pool League’s second division has reached its halfway point, with Sinclair Bay in the lead by only frames’ difference over Harper’s.

Mountain Dew “1” put up a good fight but narrowly lost out 6-5 to Harper’s, while Crown “2” recorded their first win of the season, beating Bayview “2” 6-5 in a close match.

The other match in division two went the way of Francis Street Club “2”, who go to third in the league after defeating Mountain Dew “2” 7-4.

In division one, defending champions Camps “2” made it seven wins out of seven by defeating Blackstairs “1” 7-4.

The Blackstairs side got off to a great start and they took a 3-2 lead, with Hamish New the star player in the singles. Camps “2” then won four frames in a row to clinch the two points, with notable performances from Alec Thomson and Ryan Carter – the latter completing a total clearance.

Crown “1” and Bayview “1” remain four points behind the league leaders after winning their matches on Monday night.

Crown “1” demolished the Commercial 10-1, while Bayview “1” narrowly defeated the Queen’s 6-5.

After trailing 3-0 to FSC “1”, the Seaforth Club played tremendously to win eight frames in a row to take a vital two points. The highlight of the match was Craig Durrand’s excellent total clearance in the doubles.

The other match in division one saw Kenny Park’s Camps “1” side claw themselves off the bottom of the table with a 7-4 win over Blackstairs “2”.

The quarter-finals of the Rockwater Shield take place next Monday, with the pick of the ties being first-placed Camps “2” against second-placed Crown “1”.
