Wintry weather and a frozen course limited the amount of competitive golf at Reay last week, but milder conditions on Sunday saw some action in the gents' Winter League Stableford competition.

Club captain Andy Bain was the man to make the most of the better weather, firing a sublime round of 70 for 43 Stableford points. A hat-trick of birdies at the sixth, eighth and 16th holes helped him to matching halves of 35 and victory by a five-point margin.

The runner-up was David R Craig, who has been in fine form over the recent months. He produced another solid round of 83, with halves of 40 and 43, for 38 points.

Donald Mowat took third place on countback ahead of Jack Johnstone and Ian Farquhar after all three players scored 37 points. Mowat’s tally came after a round of 82 which included a fine birdie at the 15th.

Johnstone was fourth after a solid round of 93 made up of halves of 47 and 46, with Farquhar’s score coming after a round of 82 made up of matching halves of 41.

This Saturday will see teams of two competing in a Texas Pairs, and another date for the diary is the club's AGM which will be held in the clubhouse on March 1.
