The action in Reay Golf Club's Abbott Risk Consulting Summer Cup is heating up, and round 12 saw Willie Steven continue his excellent season to top the standings with a fine score of 36 points in breezy conditions.

Halves of 41 and 40 helped him to a round of 81 and the win. Stuart Greig managed a spectacular eagle three at the long 14th hole on his way to 34 points and a share of second place with Lee Parnell, who birdied the 14th during a solid round of 75.

A red-hot front nine of 38 helped Steve Efemey to 33 points, a tally matched by Pete Barker who also did his best work on the outward half.

With two rounds to go in the competition, Andy Bain leads the way on a six-round aggregate score of 217, ahead of Jimmy Meiklejohn on 213 and Leslie Malcolm on 212 – but, with several players handily placed in the chasing pack, the final two rounds may prove crucial in determining the destination of the silverware.
