Efemey is on top in December medal win at Reay

The Reay links were bathed in sunshine at the weekend with some good scores recorded in the fine conditions.

In the gents December Medal, Steve Efemey fired a fine round of 78 for nett 69 and the victory, with his matching halves of 39 including a brace of birdies at the second and 18th holes.

Lee Parnell posted the best scratch score of the day with a solid round of 76 for nett 71 with a birdie at the 13th providing the highlight of his day.

David A Craig had a topsy-turvy day on the course, but a fine birdie at the 15th helped him to a round of 96 for nett 72 and third place.

An excellent front nine from Kenny Farmer (Snr) set him up for a round of 88 for nett 72 with a birdie at the 18th providing a nice end to his day.

In round 10 of the Winter League Stableford it was David R Craig who topped the standings after halves of 45 and 43 helped him to a score of 34 points.

Andy Bain fired a round of 80 to finish on 33 points, a tally matched by Donald Mowat who paired halves of 43 to reach his total.

After a slow start, Cammie Ross came home in a blistering 36 strokes to take fourth place on 31 points.

Meanwhile in the ladies December medal, Pam Bain pocketed the silverware after a round of 86 was good enough for nett 76.

Pauline Craig and Alison Ross were next best after both carded rounds of nett 79.

In the latest North Point Distillery Senior Stableford competition, John Brock took the win with a fine tally of 33 points in tough conditions, ahead of Donald Mowat on countback.

Malcolm Thomson, Ali Simpson and Carol Paterson were next best, all finishing on 32 points.

This Saturday the gents will be competing in round three of the winter eclectic on Saturday, while on Sunday sees round 11 of the winter league stableford scheduled.

n In the North Golf Winter Alliance fixture at Wick Golf Club, Dougie Thorburn came out on top with a score of 71.
