Durrand and Cowie are Smith Trophy winners
Sixteen ladies took part in Thurso Golf Club’s Smith Trophy competition, with victory going to Rachel Durrand and Trish Cowie on a score of nett 70.
Runners-up were Alison Campbell and Jayne Henderson with nett 74.
Rachel Durrand (nett 65) won the June Medal with a nett 65, beating Hilary Geddes (nett 72) into second place. Nineteen ladies played.
The June Extra Medal had an entry of 18. Morag Mackay (nett 71) was the winner, with Jean Sutherland (nett 74) the runner-up.
Earlier, Aileen Simmonite and Isobel Mackay had taken the honours respectively in the Pendleton Plate and the Committee Cup Stableford competition. Fifteen ladies played in difficult conditions.
Results – Pendleton Plate: 1 Aileen Simmonite (32 points); 2 Jean Sutherland (30 points); 3 Jane Grant (29 points).
Committee Cup: 1 Isobel Mackay (36 points); 2 Trish Cowie (29 points); 3 Fiona McLeod (28 points).
