Gary Davidson, Seb Sandecki and Alan Farquhar emerged as the matchplay winners in the 2022 Wick club championships.

Farquhar was up against James Harrold in the seniors' handicap final.

It was an even match with no strokes given, and both started steadily with a couple of pars. Farquhar went one up at fourth to start a nice run culminating with birdie at the par-five eighth to turn four up.

Harrold had done little wrong with Alan turning in 38.

Harrold pulled one back at 10 but Alan regained and stretched his lead with pars at 11 and 12 to go five up.

With Farquhar just needing to play out the match, he duly delivered with par at 14 for a 6&4 win.

Sandecki took on Graeme Mackay in the handicap final.

Sandecki was receiving seven strokes so it would be a tough ask for Mackay. However, he started well with birdie at the first to go one up.

Sandecki pulled it back with a great birdie at the tough fourth. Sandecki increased his lead at six only for Mackay to peg him back at seven with a great birdie to cancel Seb’s stroke.

Halves followed with Seb turning one up.

Sandecki started back with a fine nett birdie at 10 to increase his lead to two up. Nett par at 13 put him three up as holes and were running out for his opponent.

Mackay pulled a hole back at 14 only for Sandecki to utilise his strokes at 15 and 16 to close out the match 4&2.

Larnach faced Gary Davidson in the scratch final.

Davidson hit his tee shot to 5ft at the par-four first. With Larnach unable to make birdie, Davidson didn’t need to putt.

Larnach squared the match with a fine par at two only for Davidson to birdie the third to regain the advantage.

Larnach squared it again at the fourth with a fine tee shot.

The fifth hole was halved, then Davidson won six and seven with some steady play to turn two up.

Davidson put the pressure on at 10 with a great shot out of the rough to 2ft, Larnach’s birdie lipping out to give Gary a three-hole lead.

Larnach pulled one back at 11 only for Gary to regain his advantage at 12. With the next three halved in pars, Davidson found himself dormie three.

A loose drive from Davidson opened the door for Larnach but he himself produced a loose drive. Davidson then managed to play the hole out for a 4&2 win.
