The first Tuesday in May saw the Thurso ladies fight it out for the captain's and vice-captain's prizes.

Sixteen players ventured out in very windy conditions. Trish Cowie managed a very steady round of 74 which was enough to triumph and received the prize from the ladies' captain Alison Campbell

Runner-up was on-form Alice Fidler with a nett 76, beating Laura Durrand by the better inward half. Alice received the vice-captain's prize.

Last week saw the May Medal and the first qualifying round for the ladies' club championship. The scores reflected the perfect playing conditions.

Coming out on top with a five-under-par 66 was Lyndsay Stott. She managed to complete her round with no more than a six on the card and had three nice pars along the way.

Runner-up was Hilary Geddes with a handicap-cutting score of 67 and third spot went to Aileen Simmonite with a nett 70.

Lowest gross of the day was Laura Durrand with a 75, managing birdie threes on the eighth, 13th and 17th.

Emma Durrand and Eileen Manson managed birdie twos on the 14th hole.
