This week at Reay saw the women in action in the MacDonald Landscaping and Groundcare June Medal. There was some excellent scoring, with the top three made up by two relative newcomers and one club stalwart.

Nicola Campbell maintained her excellent recent form to claim first place with an impressive score of nett 67. Club captain Carol Paterson had to settle for second place after a fine round of 80 for nett 68, while Michelle Smith completed the podium places after posting a solid score of nett 70.

The women were also in action in round five of their Summer Stableford.

Once again Carol Paterson had to settle for second place after playing solid golf for her 36 points. She was pipped at the post by the excellent Pauline Craig, who finished a point ahead on 37.

Patsy Mackay and Rebecca Munro were next best after both finished on 34 points, with Mackay taking third place on countback.

The men were also in monthly medal action, with birdies at the fifth and sixth helping Ronald Mathieson to a winning tally of nett 67 courtesy of a fine round of 75.

A birdie at the 14th helped Andrew Taylor to victory in Division One after a round of 79 for nett 70. Donald Mowat, another player in good form, topped Division Two as an impressive inward half helped him to a round of 85 for nett 68.

Sandy Chisholm showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels to secure the Parry Trophy after an excellent round of 84 gave him a winning score of nett 66. Donald Mowat took second place on nett 69, while Pete McCartney recovered from a slow start to finish third on nett 71 after a round of 87.

The latest round of the North Point Distillery Senior Stableford was a high-scoring affair, with Alex Anderson topping the standings after a brilliant outward half of 37 helped him to a tally of 39 Stableford points.

Hugh Millar played some steady golf to finish second on 38, with Sandy Chisholm completing the podium places on 36.

Only three hardy souls braved the wind and rain to play in round one of the men’s strokeplay championship. Despite the terrible conditions Kenny Farmer Jnr ground out an impressive round of 95 for nett 73, with Sandy Chisholm finishing a stroke back on nett 74.

This Saturday the women will be back in Summer Stableford action, while the men will be competing in the Banks Medal which doubles up as a club championship qualifier. On Sunday the men will be back in action in the Abbott Risk Consulting Summer Stableford.
