Reay Golf Club held its annual prize-giving last Friday with a crowd of 60, including golfers and their guests, enjoying an evening of food and entertainment.

There were one or two sore heads when the on-course action resumed on Saturday, but there were still some excellent scores recorded on a bright and breezy day as the ladies and gents competed for their respective February medals.

In the ladies' competition it was Nicola Campbell who triumphed with an excellent score of nett 65, with her performance on the par-three holes providing the cornerstone of the victory.

Alison Ross took second place after a solid round of 91 made up of halves of 45 and 46 was good enough for nett 68.

Sarah Meiklejohn was third on countback ahead of Carol Paterson after both finished on nett 71. Meiklejohn carded a round of 85, with a birdie at the 13th providing the highlight, while Paterson had the consolation of posting the lowest gross score of the day, a fine 82 made up of matching halves of 41.

In the gents' event, Brent Munro fired a superb round of 68 for nett 65 to take the win. Birdies at the sixth, ninth and 13th helped him to halves of 33 and 35, which was good enough to secure a winning margin of two strokes.

Joe Wilson recovered from a slow start to take second place on nett 67 after a round of 80 which included a solitary birdie at the 14th.

Cammie Ross was edged into third place after a solid round of 74, made up of halves of 36 and 38, also gave him nett 67. Alex Anderson was fourth on nett 69, with birdies at the sixth and 16th helping him to a round of 82.

This weekend will see the ladies competing in round five of their winter league Stableford, while the gents will be playing in round four of the winter eclectic.
