Seven pairs competed in the Randall, a mixed foursome competition at Thurso Golf Club, sponsored by J A Mackay.

Anne and Alan Simmonite got off to a bad start but soon warmed up and a run of pars on the eighth, ninth and 10th and a birdie three at the 13th saw them come in with a 67 – good enough to take third spot.

Aileen Simmonite and Chris Bacon got off to a flying start, parking the first three holes, and it looked as though they were the ones to beat. But some trouble in the trees in the 11th saw them only manage a second-place finish with 66.

Winners with an excellent 65 were the brother-and-sister pair Rachel and Ben Durrand. It took them a few holes to warm up but a nice par on the long fourth hole settled them down and they continued to play steadily the rest of the round, finishing with another par on the 18th to clinch the victory.
