Top traditional music duo Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham will be heading for Caithness this summer as they embark on a tour of eight venues across Scotland.

The popular pair have been entertaining audiences for more than three decades with their fiddle and accordion tunes. They will start their latest tour at the Assembly Rooms in Wick on August 26 before going on to Oban, Fort William, Galashiels, Aberdeen, Stranraer, Glasgow and Ayr.

Event organiser Peter Ferguson, from Beautiful Events and Productions, said: “Having produced the event with Aly and Phil for many years, it’s always a great joy to invite them both back to perform such a fantastic evening's entertainment.

"Attending an Aly and Phil show is an unforgettable experience. Not only have they been described as 'the best traditional musicians you are ever likely to hear', they have a reputation for their irrepressible sense of fun and quick-witted storytelling.

"It is expected to be yet another sell-out.”

Accordionist Phil works extensively in television and film as a composer, music director and presenter. He is also sought after as a record producer but continues to enjoy touring with his long-time musical partner and friend Aly.

Aly began playing the fiddle at the age of 11 and later helped establish the folk band Boys of the Lough, with whom he toured widely and recorded for many years.

The duo have toured and recorded together since 1988 and have recorded a number of albums.
