‘Who Cares Wins’ takes top spot in NOSN pub quiz

‘WHO Cares Wins" was the name and the motto of the team which romped to victory at the third event held for North of Scotland Newspapers’ Charity of the Year initiative.

The success of the pub quiz held in Thurso’s Royal British Legion has now pushed the running total for the enterprise to £2660.69.

Nine teams turned up on the night to show their support for the three children’s projects that NOSN is helping to raise cash for.

There were eight rounds of questions that tested the knowledge of the teams but by the end "Who Cares Wins" had shot ahead with "And the losers are..." coming a close second.

Advertisement manager Sheona Campbell, who handled quizmaster duties once again, said she and the rest of the staff were delighted with the support the event received.

"It was great to see some new faces at the quiz as well as some familiar ones from our last two fundraising events," she said.

"Once again we all had a great night testing all the teams’ general knowledge. The money raised shows that the support for the three groups is there right across the county."

Earlier in the year a pub quiz was held in the Nethercliffe Hotel in Wick which raised over £200, while a sponsored walk staged at Easter took in over £2000.

Sheona hopes to see more new faces at the next quiz who will dig deep for the three community projects – Thrumster Park Regeneration Fund, Keiss Family Community Project and Thurso Youth FC.

"We hope to be in Thurso later in the year and look forward to seeing even more teams competing."
