A burst water main caused disruption to supplies in and around a Caithness community on Monday morning.

Scottish Water has advised people living in the Harpsdale area near Halkirk that water supplies in their area have been interrupted by the burst pipe.

In an update released at 6.45am a spokesman said: "A burst water pipe has been located and our teams will be on-site this morning to carry out the repair and return supplies to normal as soon as possible.

"Please be aware that you may experience no water supply or low / intermittent water pressure. You may also experience discoloured water.

"At present we expect to complete the repair in a timeframe which means we do not plan to provide bottled water at distribution locations.

"If you require additional support, please use this link to sign up as a Priority Services Customer.
