Volunteers wanted for Wick Paths Group event next week

A selfless group of volunteers helping spruce up pathways in and around Wick are looking for a helping hand on Wednesday evening next week.

Wick Paths Group (WPG) will host a work evening on Wednesday, September 1, starting at 6.30pm and meeting up at Market Street behind the JD Wetherspoon pub in the town centre.

Wick Paths Group volunteers recently transformed a muddy track near Wick's camping site with a much needed upgrade.

WPG secretary John Bogle, said: "Depending on the numbers who turn up we plan to tackle the path from Market Street to High Street; the proposed viewpoint at Broadhaven; the new link path at Scalesburn; and the old lifeboat slip. We also hope to have a litterpick on the shore at Market Street."

He added: "Tools required are shovels/spades, rakes and litter pickers. If anyone has an edging tool that could also be useful and we could also do with a strimmer."
