Van driver fined over bump in Thurso car park

A driver who failed to stop after hitting a car in a Thurso car park has been fined £200.

Debra Meek (52) pleaded guilty and also incurred five penalty points.

Wick Sheriff Court was told on Thursday that Meek was driving a transit van when she emerged from a parking bay at the Co-op store in Meadow Lane, Thurso, on July 26, last year.

She was said to have misjudged the distance and collided with a parked car. The incident was witnessed by a bystander.

Sheriff James Mulgrew commented that had she stopped at the time, the case might never have gone to court.

Meek, of Mackenzie Terrace, Westfield, now has 11 points on her licence.
