UPDATE: Man treated in hospital following Caithness crash on A99 involving two cars, confirms Police Scotland

A man was taken to hospital after a two-car crash on the A99 yesterday.

The collision occurred at around 2.40pm, closing the busy trunk road at Whaligoe Steps for more than six hours.

During the closure a diversion was in place from the A9 at Latheron and A882 at Wick.,

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 2.40pm on Saturday to a report of a two-car crash on the A99 between Ulbster and Lybster.

“Emergency services attended and the driver of one of the cars, a 27-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The road was closed and re-opened around 8.45pm.”
