Unlicensed airgun found at Watten must be handed in

A Watten man has been fined £200 for having an unlicensed airgun.

Wick Sheriff Court heard this week that police who called on 36-year-old Christopher Munro on June 30, at his home in Bain Place, on an unrelated matter, caught sight of the weapon in a hallway cupboard.

Munro, who is unemployed, immediately admitted the gun wasn't licensed.

Fiscal David Barclay commented that Munro had probably acquired the weapon "back in the days" when such items didn't require a licence.

In addition to the fine, imposed by Sheriff Andrew Berry, the airgun was ordered to be forfeit.
