Twenty-six new cases of Covid-19 coronavirus recorded in the NHS Highland health board area during the past 24 hours

TWENTY-six new positive tests for Covid-19 have been recorded across the NHS Highland area.
The region’s cumulative number of coronavirus cases rose from 4424 to 4450 when the Scottish Government published the latest daily update at 2pm.
Twenty-eight people were receiving treatment for the virus in NHS Highland hospitals last night, down one. The number of those in intensive care remained unchanged at seven.
Across Scotland some 1121 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours. This equated to 5.2 per cent of all tests carried out during that period.
Sixty-six fewer people were being treated for the virus in Scotland’s hospitals last night, after the figure fell to 1317.
Of those, 99 were in intensive care – down one from yesterday.
But sadly a further 64 deaths were registered among people who tested positive for the virus in the previous 28 days.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were once again no fresh cases in NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney. In the Outer Hebrides, NHS Eileanan Siar detected two new infections – to take its overall tally to 254.
On the mainland, NHS Grampian’s total rose by 53 to 13,177.
And NHS Tayside’s cumulative number of cases now stands at 12,781 after a further 47 positive tests overnight.
The number of confirmed cases across the whole of Scotland since the outbreak of the pandemic is now 194,269.
On the vaccine front, a further 32,070 people received their first doses in the 24 hours up to 8.30am on Wednesday – taking the total to 1,320,074.
