A PERFECT 10 marked a "Titanic" success for dancers Morven Coghill and Mark McCoustra at Wick Gala Week's Strictly Come Dancing.

The pair wowed the judges with a dance routine to the theme tune from the film, prompting them to get to their feet for a standing ovation.

The popular event was held in the Assembly Rooms on Friday, when five couples took to the floor to show off their fancy footwork. Compere John Glen kept the audience amused while Ness Factor finalist Lisa Douglas entertained with a song.

Judges Kelly Davidson, Sean Macgregor, Marney Bruce and Les Grant had a difficult task and it was a close contest, with Catherine Patterson and Magnus Macleod runners-up following their energetic flamenco. Also taking part were Martin Shepherd and Tracy Ferguson, Kris Hamilton and Alison Hamilton, and Gavin Russell and Jane Gunn.

Earlier in the day the Assembly Rooms played host to a more sedate gathering – a senior citizens' afternoon tea. A group of young musicians, led by Camilla Elder, provided entertainment which also included dancing, singing and poetry recitals.
