Thurso’s Mark Reilly wins Inverness flight to Amsterdam
A LUCKY Thurso resident has won a pair of return tickets from Inverness to Amsterdam after entering the route launch competition run by the Highland airport and Flybe in September.
Mark Reilly was named as the winner today. He said: "My wife and I first heard of the new route and competition on the radio in the car on the way home from Inverness. We entered the competition via the Highlands and Islands Airport Ltd website where we had to spot the Dutch cheese and were delighted to find out we were winners.
"It’s great that Inverness is offering this route as it offers easy access to the rest of Europe, as well as to Amsterdam itself. My wife and I are really looking forward to returning to Amsterdam as we enjoyed it very much the last time we visited."
The new route bolsters Inverness Airport as the Highland gateway for worldwide travel as passengers can travel to Schiphol to access over 300 destinations. It also offers the opportunity for short breaks to Amsterdam.
Graeme Bell, airport manager at Inverness, added: "It’s fantastic to be able to offer our customers the option to fly to such important international hubs – may this be for business or pleasure. The ability to access such destinations from Inverness is fantastic and many don’t realise that it takes less than two hours from Inverness to Amsterdam.

"We extend our congratulations to Mr Reilly and we look forward to welcoming him and his wife on the flight soon."
The Inverness-to-Schiphol service provides seven flights a week during the summer months, with fewer flights running during the winter months.
