A long-serving member of staff at Thurso's Miller Academy Primary School was praised for her "can do" attitude after she retired as a pupil support assistant.

Christine Mackay, who had served in the role for 17 years, was given a presentation on Thursday to mark her last day.

Head teacher Jacqui Budge said: “Mrs Mackay has been a lovely person to work with. Over many years she has given incredible support to so many children in their learning.

"The staff and I will really miss her and her ‘can do’ attitude and approach, but wish her every happiness in her well-earned retirement. We know that she will keep in touch and continue to fully support our school by attending school events once restrictions allow.”
