Anne Gunn, president of Spittal SWI, welcomed a full house of members to the October meeting.

After business had been attended to, and arrangements made for the whist drive on Friday, October 25, Anne welcomed Jak Murray and William Campbell, current and past chairman of Bower Young Farmers respectively.

Both had travelled overseas on Young Farmers exchanges. Jak spent 12 days in Vietnam, while William had a 10-week trip to Canada.

Both gave very interesting talks about their visits and they showed memorabilia they brought back.

Jak and William judged the competitions with results as follows – Three butter cookies (SWI recipe): 1 Kate Davies; 2 Liz Hewitson; 3 Ruth Manson; 4 Linda Levack.

Favourite mug: 1 Ruth Manson; 2 Liz Hewitson; 3 Jean Watt; 4 Margaret Bremner.

Tea hostess was Jean Watt (it was served by Anne Gunn) and the raffle winner was Gemma Duguid.
