Results announced for 34th annual ploughing match at Dixonfield Farm
The North and West Caithness Ploughing Association held its 34th annual ploughing match at Dixonfield Farm, Thurso by kind permission of George and Karen Williamson on Saturday, November 2.
The match organisers said they “couldn’t have asked for better weather” on the day.
This year the judges were Ewan Anderson, Dundee; Robert Mckechnie, Larkhall; Edwin Bennie, Freuchie; and Ron Phillips, Cupar.
A spokesperson said: “After taking a year away from ploughing competitions, Graeme Mackay, Buldoo, returned to his winning ways lifting the trophy donated by representatives of the late William Farquhar Folly for the Champion on the Field.
“James Tait, Mey, was winner of the Reversible 2 and 3 Furrow Class and was Reserve Overall Champion lifting the Grove Lounge Cup with Andrew Sinclair, Toftcarl being named as third on the field and winning the Keith Murray Cup.
“We had the pleasure of welcoming Mr John Sutherland, Lochen, to judge Best Kept Tractor. Barbara Campbell was again in attendance providing an excellent catering service along with Rebekah from Wild Highland Drinks Co who provided refreshments.”
