Relief as Thurso public toilets reopened

The Riverside toilets in Thurso have been re-opened.

Thurso's Tanyard public toilets have fully reopened again after the installation of a self-locking system.

The development was welcomed by Thurso Community Councillors at their meeting last Tuesday.

The loo on Riverside Road was out of commission for more than a year following a spate of vandalism.

Community councillors were keen to see it reopened, particularly given its prime location just off the town centre, though there was concern it could remain mothballed.

Local Highland Councillor Ron Gunn said the breakthrough came following a visit by senior Inverness-based officer Allan Gunn who recognised the need to have the toilet reopened. It is now open between 8am and 8pm.
