The owners of a popular Wick bar took the decision yesterday to temporarily shut its doors after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

Harpers Bar and Function Suite, based at Back Bridge Street in the centre of the town, announced the decision in a social media posting on its Facebook page during Monday afternoon.

The message reads: "Due to a staff member returning a Covid-19 positive result as per track and trace protocols we have taken the decision to close the bar as of today to allow the rest of our staff the time to isolate as per guidelines issued by the Scottish government, at present we intend to reopen on Sunday after these quarantine periods have been achieved and allow the track and trace process to contact any patrons."

The announcement ended by saying: "This decision was not taken lightly but to help protect our fantastic customers we feel this is the correct decision to take and hope to see you all again soon."
