An unspecified number of people are self-isolating after a pupil at a Wick primary school tested positive for Covid-19.

Letters went out to parents on Monday after the case came to light at Newton Park Primary School.

A Highland Council spokesperson said today: “We are aware of a positive case of a pupil at Newton Park Primary School. A group of individuals are following advice from NHS Highland’s Health Protection Team and are self-isolating for 10 days.

"Letters were sent to parents on Monday, June 21. All necessary action has been taken at the school and the setting remains open.

"Highland Council continues to work in partnership with NHS Highland’s Health Protection Team.”
