Police update on Thurso fire

Police confirmed that yesterday's fire at Mount Pleasant Road in Thurso involved a "concern for person" incident in which a man was taken to hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.25am on Wednesday, 28 February, police were called to assist an an address in Mount Pleasant Road, Thurso following a report of a fire. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire."

The police added it was a "concern for person" incident in which a man was taken to hospital "for assessment".

Emergency services attended the scene of the house fire located near the Morrisons Daily shop as reported earlier.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.34am on Wednesday, 28 February to reports of dwelling fire on Mount Pleasant Road, Thurso.

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene.

"One casualty was within the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and our crews left at 1.15pm after ensuring the area was safe."
