The headteacher of Miller Academy in Thurso said the primary school was "a most interesting and colourful place" on March 7 for World Book Day.

Headteacher Jacqui Budge said that the classes paired up for 'Book Buddies Time' and then a whole school "Together Time" was held during which everyone had a chance to see all of the "wonderful costumes" and learn a little about the relevant books.

She added: “Our children absolutely loved World Book Day and so enjoyed being dressed up.

"We are indebted to our parents for their excellent support of such events and everyone had such an enjoyable time. Roald Dahl characters were very popular, as were superheroes and footballers. We are also hugely grateful to two local businesses, Reid’s Bakery and Lasting Impressions, as they gifted lovely book bundles to us which are such a treat."
