The publishers of the Caithness Courier and John O’Groat Journal are running a readers’ calendar photography competition to showcase the county in all four seasons.

It gives another opportunity to promote the rich pool of photographic talent that exists in the area.

This was amply illustrated in the range and number of entries last year.

Spectacular images from across Caithness included a shot of Ackergill Harbour at sunset by Jason Ridgley, an atmospheric shot of Keiss Castles by Davie Hall and an image showcasing Dunnet Forest by John Knowles.

We are sure our talented readers will again rise to the challenge of seeking to have their images chosen for North of Scotland Newspapers’ 2022 calendar.

So get out there and capture the changing seasons for a chance to features in next year's Caithness calendar.

From your entries, we’ll choose the 12 images that will be used to illustrate the calendar, with the overall winning entry being given pride of place on the front cover.

HOW TO ENTER:

Email your best shots as high-resolution jpg files (minimum 2MB), caption them with the location and send your name, email address and phone number to editor@nosn.co.uk with “Readers’ calendar competition” in the subject. Entries must be submitted by Friday, July 16.

By taking part, you’ll be in with a chance of having your photo included in the calendar and receiving a free copy of the final product, which will be on sale later this year.

Those whose pictures are selected will also receive a copy of this year’s Caithness photo book.

  • Don't forget, we're always keen to see your best pictures of the county for our regular Your Caithness feature. Email your high-resolution jpg files – along with your name, location and what's in the photo – to editor@nosn.co.uk marked Your Caithness.
